SEVENTH GENERATION

He emigrated late 1700s, early 1800s from Lower Saucon Township, Lehigh County, PA. It is possible that he is a veteran of the War of 1812, as a the name "Philip Cope" appears as a Private from Pennsylvania on the "Pennsylvania Volunteers in the War of 1812" list. The tombstone of Henry D. Cope, Philip Cope's son, indicates in error that he was a veteran of the war of 1812. This designation could have been confused with Philip Cope's participation in this war.

child48 i. Samuel Cope (Kopp).
child ii. Henry D. Cope(1) was born on 5 Oct 1813. He was buried in 1890 in Friedensville Church Cemetery, Center Valley, RD 1, Lehigh County, PA. He died on 31 Aug 1890. He was confirmed 1830 - (2nd Sunday after Easter) in Friedensville Church, Center Valley, RD 1, PA. The inscription ont he tombstone at Friedensville Church Cemetery is in German script.

The inscription on the tombstone at Friedensville Church Cemetery indicates "Veteran of War of 1812." Because of the birth date (1813) this must be an error.
