Rites Held For C. T. Dorland

Funeral services were held for Charles Theron Dorland last Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Bethel Presbyterian church, with Rev. G. W. Ukena officiating. Casketbearers were Will Philips, L. T.Philips. George Springer, Carl Kohler, Will Murphy and Oscar Jonsberg.
Charles Theron Dorland, son of Cornelius and Sarah king Dorland, was born Oct. 9, 1871, at Wadena. At an early age he moved with his parents to West union. Here he grew to manhood.
He was united in marriage to Sophia Jacobi July 12, 1893. They lived all of their married lifein West Union. Mr. Dorland had one of the first automobile buses in the state. He served for many years on the fire department and drove a poultry truck. He was a member of the Royal Neighbors lodge.
He had been in failing health for the past two years and became ill in November of last year. He had been making his home with his son, Lyle and family, at Charles City for the past several months, but returned to his home Thursday, May 1, He died at his home Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the age of 86 years, six months and 26 days.
He is survived by his two sons, Harold, West Union, and Lyle, Charles City; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Smith, Rochester, Minn., and one grandson at Phoenix, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his wife on March 5, 1955; one son and one daughter. Parents: Cornelius DORLAND and Sara KING.
