Christian Newcomer, who was the first United Brethren in Christ minister to preach in Franklin Co., PA, preached in 1804 at George Fetterhoff's, near the present Fetterhoff Chapel. The first Fetterhoff Chapel was built in 1834."

Hugh Steel, from Rotterdam and last from Cowes, at Philadelphia on Sept. 15, 1753. Also on the ship were Theodorus Fridrich Haux and new wife, Anna Maria Federhaf (possibly a cousin, although he did have a sister by that name).

The passengers took the usual qualifications in the presence of Benjamin Franklyn, Esquire, at Philadelphia on Sept. 17, 1753 as per Pennsylvania German Pioneers, Vol. 1, 1727-1775, pages 526-531, by Ralph Strassburger, LLD, published 1992 by Picton Press, Camden, Main. Following events were narrated in John Fetterhoff's diary:

John was born near Littlestown, Adams Co., PA on McSherry's place where his mother died. Father moved from place to place then back to Chambersburg. He was raised with very little education and religion. Often moved between brother and cousins, helping on the farm. When 20, 22 Oct 1818, met Henry Kumler, Bishop Newcomer and William Brown at Hagerstown--contemplated preaching. Started riding the circuit. Met Elizabeth Null in the fall of 1819. Married Elizabeth 10 Jun 1821. Father-in-law (Christian Null) gave them 28 acres where he built a house, farmed and preached.

Spring of 1832, he sold home on Clear Creek, Warren Co., OH and bought an old mill property on Paint Creek, Preble Co., OH and moved there on 1 Apr 1832. In 1836 sold mill and farm for $5,000 (paid $1,800).

In 1837 moved to Indiana. Bought 2 adjoining farms on Sugar Creek in Parke Co., IN., about 400 acres, and moved in on April 1, 1838. November 23 or 24, 1862, Elizabeth Null Fetterhoff died. Married Susanna Monn in Chambersburg, PA, 4 Jul 1865. Moved to LaFayette, IN. Sold property in LaFayette 15 Jun 1867. Moved to Chambersburg, PA, 30 March 1868 into house they bought from Joseph Keller on 14 Dec 1867.

On 14 Oct 1882, Rev. John Fetterhoff passed away at 2:00 a.m. He was 84 yrs., 1 mo., 5 dys. old. Parents: Matthaeus Conrad FEDERHAF and Maria Elizabeth ?.
