Easter Pemberton JOHNSON was born on 5 Jul 1815 in Wayne Co., IN.⁽⁶³⁸⁾ Obituary (copied from DAR Bladen Ashby files--Mrs. Otis O. Fleming):

In the year of 1815, July 5, in Wayne County, Indiana, Easter Pemberton was born. When she was quite young she went with her parents to a new home in Park County, Ohio. At the age of 15 years, she and her parents found an Indiana home in St. Joe County. In 1835, May 15, she married James Johnson. In 1837, they emigrated to the territory that is now our grand state of Iowa. Grandmother, as the present generation has long known her, had a memorable career, and had witnessed many a historical event. Her new Iowa home was in Louisa County, about 12 miles west of Dubuque. In 1846, Rev. Johnson, her husband, passed away. Three years later she married Andrew Penland. They emigrated to the northern part of Marion county, then later made their home with T. F. Doughman, near Tracy, Iowa. Mr. Penland passed away July 20, 1899, leaving two children. Mrs. Penland has been a faithful worker in the church and always tried to live an upright life while of this earth. She passed away Oct. 2, 1905, at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 27 days. Services were held in the Tracy M. F. church. Wednesday, Oct. 4 conducted by Rev. Thomas Rowe, his theme being founded upon 2 Sam. 14:14.

Penland Family Records:

Andrew married second wife, Easter Pemberton, , widow of Rev. James Johnson and daughter of Joseph Pemberton & Eleanor Ashby. They later moved to Marion Co., Iowa and are buried in Bellefontaine Cemetery near Tracy, Iowa. (Easter Pemberton was niece of Sarah Ashby Pemberton).
