Daniel BALSLEY died in 1824.⁽¹⁶⁵⁾ In Daniel Baltzleyl's will, dated 24 Jun 1824, he left to his mother, Frances Baltzley, his household goods, furniture and six sheep. All of his estate and lands were to be equally divided between his brother, Jacob, his nephew, John S. Strickler (son of his sister Elizabeth Barnhart), and the third part to John S. Strickler to be held in trust for use by his sister Elizabeth Barnhart "to be paid to her for her support at such times and in manner so that her said husband John Barnhart shall have no control over any other part thereof..." John Strickler and John Shalleu were named Executors. The will was probated 5 Jul 1824. Parents: Jacob BALTZLY and Veronica (Frances) ROAD.

Elizabeth BALSLEY was born in 1778 in PA.⁽¹⁶⁶⁾ She died after 1836 in Fayette CO, PA.⁽¹⁶⁷⁾ Register of Wills, Fayette County, Uniontown, PA: Book 1, page 380, Jacob Baltzly (father of Elizabeth) left her one fifth of his remaining estate. Will dated 13 Aug 1809 and probated 11 Sep 1809.

Book 1, p. 832, Register of Wills, Fayette Co., PA. In Daniel Baltzley's will of 24 Jun 1824, he left one third of his estate to Elizabeth, to be held in trust by her son John S. Strickler "to her support at such times and in manner so that her said husband John Barnhart shall have no control over any other part thereof..." This will was probated 5 Jul 1824. Daniel inherited from his father, Jacob Baltzly.

On 16 May 1827 Elizabeth purchased, for $100 from David Barnhart, all that legacy bequest willed to him by his grandfather, Jacob Baltzly.

Will Bond Book No. 1, Fayette County Court House, Uniontown, Pa. (furnished by John A. Sharpton): On 12 June 1827 Elizabeth Barnhart, William Balsley, and John S. Strickler petitioned Orphan's Court for Elizabeth to receive possession of her late husband's estate, since no will was left by John Barnhart. She was to present a "true and perfect" inventory of all goods and chattels to the court by 12 Jun 1828. Then an account was to be received before granting remainder of the estate to Elizabeth.

Will of Frances Balsly dated 19 Dec 1827: "...bequeath unto my grandson John Strickler (son of Elizabeth Shallenberger formerly Elizabeth Barnhart)..." Apparently Elizabeth was married three times, i.e., Elizabeth Balsley (1) Strickler, (2) Barnhart, (3) Shallenberger.

Jacob BALSLEY. Bill Balsley letter of 13 Feb 1998: "Son Jacob moved to Fairfield County, Ohio, about 1812. On the 1820 U.S. Census for Ohio, he is listed for Thorn Township, Perry County, Ohio (Perry Co. formed in 1817 from Fairfield, Muskingum, and Washington Counties). Jacob and his family moved to Washington Township, Blackford County, Indiana, on or about 1837." Parents: Jacob BALTZLY and Veronica (Frances) ROAD.

Susanah BALSLEY was born about 1772 in PA. She died on 3 Jul 1808 in Connellsville, Bullskin Twp., Fayette Co., PA.⁽¹⁷⁰⁾ In the will of Jacob Baltzly dated August 13, 1809, he bequeathed one fifth of his remaining estate to his two grandsons, David and John Barnhart "(sons of my deceased daughter Susanah)."

Jacob BALTZLY died in 1809 in Connellsville, Bullskin Twp., Fayette Co., PA.⁽¹⁷¹⁾ In Jacob Baltzly's will dated 13 Aug 1809, probated 11 Sep 1809, most of his estate was left to his wife, Frances (including her dower by her first husband, Henry Forry). The rest was to be sold and divided among his children and grandchildren. He listed two sons, Jacob and Daniel; three daughters, Susanah (deceased), Elizabeth, and Frances; and two grandsons, David and John Barnhart (sons of the deceased Susanah), also a "natural son" of daughter Elizabeth "named Johnny" was to receive one fifth of the remaining estate and 50 pounds.

In a letter of 13 Feb 1998, Bill Balsley stated: "The Balsleys are of Swiss background from Bern (Balzli von Bern). Jacob was likely a son of Christian Balsley (and other spellings) who arrived in Philadelphia, PA, in 1774 (along with Peter Balsley). During the Revolutionary War, Jacob served in various units of the York County, PA, Militia. At that time, Jacob resided in Hellam Township, York County, PA. Jacob's Rev. War service is recorded in DAR. Jacob purchased land in Bullskin Township, Fayette County, PA, on 20 Apr 1791 and l6 Jul 1791. He is listed on the 1798 "Direct Tax" list for Pennsylvania as living in Bullskin Twp. with one (1) dwelling and one (1) barn on 100 acres."

History of Fayette County, PA, by Franklin Ellis, 1882, states Jacob was a constable for Bullskin Township during the 1803-1807 period.
