John Sheffer (son of John Sheffer, Sr. and Susannah Rennels)^{2101, 2102} was born 08 Feb 1803 in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania²¹⁰³, and died 22 Nov 1876 in Liberty, Tioga, Pennsylvania²¹⁰⁴. He married Sarah Shaffer, daughter of John Shaffer.

Notes for John Sheffer:
As a boy of 13, John carried the mail from Liberty to Picture Rocks by horseback, according to the History of Tioga County.

His tombstone reads that he died on 27 Dec 1876, but the History of Tioga County lists his death as 8 Nov 1876 if the grave in Friedens Cemetery is his. The date of his wife's death would be 11 years earlier than stated in the history.
