Earl Palmer (b. 31 Dec 1892, d. 1963)

Earl Palmer (son of Richard R. Palmer and Francis Mary Gamble)^{1735, 1736, 1737, 1738, 1739, 1739, 1740, 1741, 1741, 1742, 1743} was born 31 Dec 1892 in Ohio¹⁷⁴⁴, and died 1963 in Port Charlotte, Florida¹⁷⁴⁵. He married (1) Edna Pearl Shields on Abt. 1915, daughter of Bernard Austin Cassit Smith Shields and Alvernia Floral Hall. He married (2) Rose M. Carter on 27 May 1953 in Virginia¹⁷⁴⁶.

Notes for Earl Palmer:
Born in a log cabin, he was the youngest of many children (17?- but only 7 survived to adulthood) and was given no middle name because they had run out of names. When he was born his mother was alone and during the birth his ear came off. She clapped it into place and held it there until the doctor returned with her husband. The ear was stitched back on and was only slightly out of kilter.

He served in Italy during WWI.

I remember he always smelled of tobacco from his pipe, and I still associate that smell with happiness. When my grandmother died in 1954, he lived with us in Virginia for a year or so. Then he met Rose and remarried, a fact that made my mother unhappy. He and Rose eventually moved to Port Charlotte, Florida, where he died in 1963.
