David Converse Chase (son of Lewis Dorman Chase Sr and Emily Williams)²⁸⁶ was born 10 Aug 1842 in Shiawassa, Shiawassa, Michigan²⁸⁷, and died 10 Dec 1904 in Painted Post, New York²⁸⁷. He married Helen A. Sears on 10 Oct 1865 in Cambell, New York, daughter of Lewis Sears and Eugenia.

Came to New York from Michigan. Was a member of the NY Volunteers during the Civil War.

Lived on East High Street in Painted Post, NY. See newspaper article in The Evening Leader, Oct. 10, 1903, for article about their 38th wedding anniversary.

He was a blacksmith, millwright in Holley, Michigan. The 1860 Census shows him living in Thurston, New York, and serving as a machinist apprentice. He lived with the Harmon Stevens family.
