(236) was born about 1760 in Anne Arundel County, MD. He signed a
will on 12 Jan 1823 in Cooper County, MO.(237)
His wife and a son-in-law, John Henry, are administrators of the Will.
Listed the following Children: John Chaney (previously deceased (Oct 1822),
Nancy Sharp, Elizabeth Bickett, Sally Colclause, Ludia Henry, Polly Chaney, Nathan
Chaney, William Chaney, Rachel Chaney, Henry Chaney. He died in Nov 1823 in
Cooper County, MO. In "Old Men of Clay Co., MO" c 1870 page 123,
States that Richard was born in MD and moved to Kentucky in1785, he was a soldier
in the Continental Army and also served against the North Western Indians.
In "History of Pettis Co., MO" c 1882 page 842, States the Richard
came to Missouri in 1822, that Lydia lived in Maryland during the War of The
Revolution and that she and her husband were among the first settlers of Kentucky
and Missouri.
"Archives of Maryland Muster Rolls During the War of the American Revolution,
1775-83" page 91, Musters of Maryland Troops, Vol. I - Richard Chaney enlisted
Dec. 10, 1776.
Fayette Co., Kentucky Tax List 1789 lists Richard Chiney the spelling changes
to Cheney on the 1791 Tax List.
He was married to * Lydia ?. 245. * Lydia ? was
born between 1759 and 1769 in Maryland. Believe the she was born in Maryland
but not sure yet. (1998). She died after 1840 in Clay County, MO. She live
to the ripe old age of 105 years. In 1830 census gives her age as between 60-70
years. Children were:

John CHANEY was born about 1780. He signed a will in Oct 1822 in Cooper
County, MO. He died about Oct 1822. In "History of Pettis Co., Missouri"
c 1882 page 842, states that John served in the War of 1812.
