37. PEARL, a dirt road leaves the west side of the Idaho State Hwy. 55 on the Spring Valley Summit, it leads 4.7 miles west to the old mining settlement of Pearl, where tailing piles, foundations, and a few dilapidated, gutted shacks are the only evidence of a district the produced $2 million in gold and led. Pearl began in 1867 when the proprietor of the Dry Creek ranch-station found a quartz prospect on Willow Creek. The area was worked after the Panic of 1893, and in 1903-07 a dozen mines were active; their names are as colorful as those of racehorses: Checkmate, Easter, Black Pearl, Leviathan, Red Warrior, Middleman, Afterthought. Ball mills, one of them with a 150-ton capacity, were stream-powered at first, then the Payette River Power Co. provided electricity. Supplies were furnished from Emmett. Work was done in the mines as late as 1945.

68. Pruit Cemetery Records-Newton County, Arkansas. USGENWEB-internet service. To reah this cemetery, leaving Jasper take Hwy. 74 east. Go about 1 1/2 miles, go down steep curve, cross bridge and take dirt road on left across from stone house. Stay left, going up hill about 1/2 mile, turn on first road to left. Cemerteryis at end of this dirt road, about 1/2 mile.
There are many unmarked graves. The Pioneers had been buried there for years before engraved monuments were available, and seldom money to buy them when there were. School children, cattle and later mowing machines dislodged field stone markers. At one time a schoolhouse located on this acre, sharing with the cemetery. It was located in the left, nearn corner (facing cemetery from roadway). Water came from the spring below. When the district schools were consolidated in Jasper, this one was abandoned along with others.

80. News Paper Clipping-Will - The Carthage Press, Printed the following: Profits from Estate to be Divided Between Two Daughters
The will of Thomas L. Cone, who died a few days ago in Preston, was filed late yesterday. After providing for the payment of all his debts, and $100 to the person caring for him during his last illness, he leaves to his two daughters, Augusta E. Cone and Yola D. Culton all personal property, to be divided equally.
Augusta Cone is to have full charge and control of the homestead, consisting of dwelling and seven acres in Preston, as long as she remains unmarried. Rents and profits of all other real estate are to be divided between those two daughters, two-thirds to Augusta, and one-third to Mrs. Culton.
The son, Luther P. Cone, is to have management of a farm of 120 acres, paying customary rent to the two daughters, after paying taxes and other necessary expenses. Augusta is to have free pasturage on the farm for one horse and three cows.
After the death or marriage of Augusta, all real estate is to be sold and the money divided equally between all the Cone children or their heirs. The children are Charles E. Cone, Lucia Dryden, Elmer C. Cone, James H. Cone, Marcia H. Stockert, Luther P. Cone, Augusta E. Cone and Yola D. Culton.
It was at first provided that Luther and Augusta Cone be made executors without bond, but in a codicil dated June 30, 1917, L. M. H. Elliott is named as executor. The will itself is dated September 9, 1914, with J. G. and N. Olga Berry as witnesses.
