992. * Thomas "van Sweringen" SWEARINGEN was born in 1665 in Saint Marys County, MD. He was naturalised in Apr 1669. He died in 1710 in Somerset County, MD. Thomas van Swearingen was the one that dropped the "Van" and added an "A" making his last name "Swearingen". He was married to * Jane DOYNE in 1687 in St. Marys, Somerset, MD.

993. * Jane DOYNE. Her step-father's last name was Hyde. Children were:

child i. Thomas SWEARINGEN was born in 1688 in Somerset County, MD. He died in 1726 in Virginia.
child ii. Van "Maryland Van" SWEARINGEN(99) (99) was born in 1692 in St. Marys, Somerset, MD. He died in 1801 in Hagerstown, Washington, MD. He moved to Washington County, Maryland, and took up a large tract of land. After building his home and feeling securely settled, it was found that the land had been previously patented as Ringgold's Manor to another. Not to lose his investment he leased the land for eighty-nine years. He lived to be 109 years old, lived in three centuries. He signed Oath of Allegiance; served in the French and Indian War. This line intermarried with the Bonds, Cresaps, Stulls, Wilsons, Grahams, Bealls, Richards, Lacklands and other prominent Maryland families. One of his daughters married Thomas Cresap.
