FOURTH GENERATION

14. William Kent MCKISSICK (41) (42)(43) was born on 15 Oct 1822 in Clay County, MO. He was a Farmer between 1844 and 1850 in Fremont County, IA. He was a Ferry operator in 1850. William ran a ferry across the Missouri River from Hamburg to Nebraska City. He was a Sheriff in 1860 in Sidney, Fremont, IA. He died on 21 May 1876 in Nebraska City, Otoe, NE. (44) He was buried in Wyuka Cemetery, Otoe County, NE. (45) Not sure when he moved but he moved to Oakland, Douglas, Oregon. Found where he bought land from Mathew Pratt on September 27, 1869 filed in Fremont county, Iowa. It is believed that he had a goverment contract to haul supplies to Fort Crogham.

He was married to Martha Ann ACORD (daughter of Zurr ACORD and Virginia Martha LUSTER) on 20 Jul 1847 in Atchison County, MO.(46) Martha Ann ACORD was born on 3 Mar 1828 in Vincennes, Knox, IN. (47) In the 1860 Census they list her as being born in Ohio. But feel this is wrong as found her birth date& place in other sources. She died on 30 Sep 1867. William Kent MCKISSICK and Martha Ann ACORD had the following children:

child54 i. Mary Francis MCKISSICK was born on 8 Dec 1848 in Iowa. (48) She died on 8 Sep 1851 in Iowa. She was buried on 8 Sep 1851 in Acord Cemetery, Sidney, Fremont, IA. The Acord Cemetery was claim farm land, and all graves & stones were removed so that the land could be farmed. Mary was rendered into rest but which cemetery is yet unknown. She was buried.

He was married to Mila Ann WADE (daughter of James G. WADE and Eleanore B. ?) on 12 May 1870 in Otoe County, NE. (14) Mila Ann WADE was born on 17 Aug 1828 in Kentucky. She died on 23 Mar 1901 in Nebraska City, Otoe, NE. (33) She was buried in Wyuka Cemetery, Otoe County, NE. (45) She is buried next to her William McKissick. She came to Otoe County with her first husband in the spring of 1854 and was one of the first white women to settle in the county. In March 1868 the widow Mrs. Graves was assessed for personal taxes in Otoe Precinct.
