[death was Feb. 21, 1939] Amy Lillian Miller was born March 15, 1872 on a farm three miles east of Onarga, the daughter of Ellen Lockwood and William H. Miller. She was one year of age when the mother passed away, and a few years later a new mother came into the home bringing with her a niece, Anna Beardsley, later Mrs. S. A. Bowen, who with a brother and a sister, Fred and Lois, made up the family. She attended the country school near her home and was a member of the Methodist Sunday School. She united with the Methodist church at the age of 18, and attended regularly until ill health and heavy responsibilities prevented. On March 3, 1897, she was united in marriage to Mr. Jesse Morgan, and resided on a farm east of Onarga for a number of years, later moving to Onarga. To this union were born two daughters and a son, namely Mrs. Ethel Fisher of Onarga, Mrs. Gertrude Schafer of Chicago, and Earle L. Morgan of Chicago; eight grandchildren, Gordon, Donald, Doris, and Robert Fisher, Dona and Gene Morgan, Shirley and Janice Schafer, together with the husband and children, are left to mourn her passing. Her whole life was spent in caring first for her children, then for her aged father, who passed away in 1917 [sic -- 1915] and then for her invalid sister Lois, who survives. The brother, Fred, passed away in 1927. Mrs. Morgan passed away at her home in Onarga Tuesday morning after a brief illness, at the age of 66 years, 11 months, and 6 days.
