Notes for Cyril Plant: Mark Ernest III advises that Cyril and wife betty owned the pub named "The Amalgamated Inn" known locally as the "The Mal". It had a good "log-end" (manchester board) darts team. This pub was used by the Coronation St TV production team until they built their own set modelled on the pub and the adjacent bay fronted houses on Glouster St, as are shown on the programs opening credits. It was on the junstion of Glouster St and Clifton St in the Ordsall area of Salford until it was demolished around 1970 as part of the area's redevelopment.
