Notes
Samuel Gugler met his wife, Emma Mitsch, in the Lyona Community. They often walked to and from church together in their "courting" days. This relationship blossomed into love and mariage. As time went on, they had a family of seven sons and one daughter. They lived in the Lyona Community one mile west, one mile sourth and one-half mile west of the church. Their children attended Carry Creek and Lyona Schools. Most of them married ministers' daughters, school tetachers or local community friends.

It is an interesting fact that many of the family members were and are teachers; from Samuel Gugler's sons down to and including great-grandchildren who were either teachers or married teachers.

Albert Gugler, youngest son of Christian and Margaret Gugler was born April 2, 1873, and married Minnie Latzke on December 9, 1896. She as born February 15, 1876 at the Latzke home. They lived on a farm owned by Albert's father and moved to the permanent farm in 1903. They had purchased the estate of Henry and Mary Westrup. Minnie died October 28, 1939, and Albert, August 10, 1958.

When they moved to the farm, the present home of their son, Harold, the big barn had been completed. Albert had a large garden and orchard. The orchard was probably stocked with trees from his father's nursery. He was Sunday School superintendent and active in the Lyona Church as well as the Sunday School held at Liberty Center schoolhouse.
