Mariah Catherine Squires (daughter of Thomas Sanford Squires and Letitia Bell Fortney) was born July 17, 1877 in Birds Creek, Preston Co., W.Va., and died October 23, 1938 in Grafton, Taylor Co., W.Va.. She married Philip Henry Gull on Abt 1894, son of James Marcellis Washington Gull and Matilda Francis Titchenell.

Mariah Catherine (Katherine in Certificate) died of arterio sclerosis, art hypertension, hypertrophy and dilitation heart. Her attending physician who signed off on the medical certificate of death was F. D. Fortney of Newburg, W.Va. Mariah died at her home on 408 E Main St, Grafton at 2:15 pm. Bartlett Funeral Home took care of the arrangements. Her date and time of death appears on a copy of the orgiinal Certificate of Death, Dist no. 4651, series 87. Persons providing the information was Gearl S. Gull of Grafton.
