Leona M. (Saffel) Minnear (daughter of Milton C. Minnear and Alice Jeanette Gull) was born February 04, 1924 in Newburg, West Virginia, and died June 15, 2007 in Grafton , West Virginia. She married Robert Samuel Phillips.

Leona M. (Saffel) Phillips
Leona M. (Saffel) Phillips, age 83 of Route 3, Grafton, West Virginia, (Cherry Run Community) peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 15, 2007, at the Grafton City Hospital.
She was born in Newburg, West Virginia, on February 4, 1924, a daughter of the late Harry Saffel and Evelyn (Menear) Saffel. Her husband was the late Robert “Sam” Phillips.
She is survived by one son, Rob Phillips and wife Jodi, of Frederick, Md.; one daughter, Sue “Rusty” Phillips of Grafton; one grandson, Connor Phillips of Frederick; one step-daughter. June Foley of Stephenville Crossing, Newfoundland, Canada; four nieces, Pam Shaw and family, Sandra Moore, Sharon Royle and family, Cathy Wise and family. She is also survived by nieces and nephews on the Phillips side of the family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Joan Saffel Moore and her husband James Moore.
Mrs. Phillips was a graduate of Grafton High School Class of 1942. She worked at the Hazel Atlas Glass Company and the Grafton Apparel Shirt Factory in Grafton. Also she was a member of the Haymond United Methodist Church and also attended the Hebron Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton from 5-9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, and from 10a.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday, June 21. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 21, 2007, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Jeffrey N. Winter officiating.
At the request of Mrs. Phillips, her body will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that contributions be made to Hospice Care Corporation, 7 Harman Center, Grafton, WV 26354.
