George died of diptheria at the age of 4 years, 7 months, and 9 days. Probably was living on the Nelson farm after the family returned from Omaha as mother Adelia was doing poorly after the birth of daughter Annie in Dec of 1889. Several more children came down with the killer disease.
His father Edward wrote in the family Bible on the death page: "Vår älskade son George David Erickson död den October 1891. 4 år gammal." He was buried after 28 Oct 1891 in Kiron Cemetery, Kiron, Iowa. George is the 177th decedent to be buried in the Kiron Cemetery.
