See utfly. #15x. Based on date in CS. Exit visa shows 1 May 1868. A large group left Misterhult that month. It included the Nils Backs, Johan Petterssons, Sven Engelbrektsons, Gustaf Dahlman from the last week of April. He died in 1908 in Alcester Twp, Union Co, South Dakota. This information comes from a cemetery register. He was 68 years old. He was buried in 1908 in Erickson Cemetery, Alcester Twp, Union Co, South Dakota. Erickson Cemetery is located in Section 26 on the farm of Nils Peter Erickson. Two Anderson's, nine Erickson's and two Olson's have been buried there from 1899 to 1926. No burial there between 1926 and July 1940. Nils P. was buried in grave 2, lot 5, block 1 in 1908 at the age of 68. His wife Sara Charlotta would latter be buried by his side in grave 1, lot 5, block 1 in 1924.

bullet Bertha Christina Jonsdotter Ericksson was born on 10 Jun 1842 in Sweden. She died on 25 Jan 1923 in Iowa. She was buried about 28 Jan 1923 in Kiron Cemetery, Kiron, Iowa. Christina is buried in the Sparfeldt plot where her 2nd husband and her son are also buried. See Lot 11 of the Kiron Cemetery records. Christina also married a C.E.Sundstrom and a Johanson from Bronson,IA.

She was married to Henry (Henrik) Jönsson about 1869. Assumes he married about the time of his immigration to America. First child born in 1870. Kiron cemetery records lists Christina's father as John Carlson and her mother as Maria Erickson. Children were: Victoria Irene Johnson, John Alfred Johnson.

She was married to Carl Erick Sundstrom about 1885 in Iowa. Oral story has the Sunstroms living in Section 20 of Stockholm Township on the 80 acres just east of John Sparfeldt's farm. The land records indicate that John Sparfeldt tried to get them the 80 acres in the south half of the North East quarter. John had acquired the land in October 1882 from estate settlement of the original patent holders. In Dec of 1885 he deeded the south west 40 acres in the south east quarter to Christina. From June 1886 to Dec 1886 a series of paper land transactions took place that left Christina with the 40 acres plus 1 acre in the north west corner of the north east quarter of section 20. In Dec 1891 the Sheriff sold the 40 acres of Christina plus John Sparfeldt's 40 acres in the south east 40 of the north east quarter for failure to pay taxes. (Papers and receipts of various sorts in the box of things John left behind seem to indicate that the county treasurer had failed to include the extra land on Johns yearly bill for taxes on his homeplace property which John had duly paid in person. Even then, he was not notified of the extra taxes until after the sale or so it seems. The fact that he did not speak English or German probably played a part in the mixup. The other factor here is that Johns was getting very old and his son John Naslund had come to run the farm. You can imagine how much son John just off the boat knew about the procedural macinations of the county court house!) Johns land was purchased by Fred Gronau and Christina's by Christian(Christina?) Sandstrom. (This might be a misrecording of her 2nd husband Sundstrom.) In April 1894 Christina Sundstrom, a widow, deeds all her property, 40 acres plus the 1 acre lot, to Fred Gronau. The cemetery records show that her husband, Carl Erick Sundstrom, had died in March of 1894 at the age of 54. With her brother-in-law's family now making their home at the Sparfeldts, Christina really couldn't go back there. Legend says she got married to a man from Bronson, Iowa and moved there.
