Margaret Elizabeth LASSETER (daughter of John Emery LASSETER and Mary Ann Elizabeth Griffin) was born February 27, 1884 in Williamson County, Texas, and died June 15, 1967 in Westbrook, Mitchell County, Texas. She married Fred Clifford POWELL, Sr. on 1945 in Mitchell County, Texas.

Notes for Margaret Elizabeth LASSETER:
Known as "Miss Margaret". In 1919 she bought a building & opened Westbrook's 1st drugstore, within a week she was appointed post master by President Woodrow Wilson. She lived in the back of the building, which was adobe & built in 1907. She willed the building to the community. She retired in 1954 & moved into a new home. Margaret raised a stepson, Fred Powell, Jr., from age 14 throught college at New Mexico Military Institute. She had been married to Fred Powell, Sr. for 6 months.
Her sister, Mellie, called her "Peg", at other times she was referred to as "Maggie".
