Edward Andrew Jansen(Thorson) (son of Edward Andrew Thorson and Bertha Kvia or Tollefson) was born October 12, 1888 in Sioux City,Woodbury Co Iowa, and died 1976 in Whittier, California. He married Anna Hermanson, daughter of Alfred G. Hermanson and Oline Anderson.

Edward and Anna Jansen lived at 3147 Bushnell Street in Sioux City Iowa in the Morningside area. This is where they raised their seven children until 1929.

Edward and his son-in-law, Dick Sheetz (Olives husband), drove out to California in August of 1929 in a 1927 Buick. Edward went to work at " Axelson Machine Shop" in Huntington Park. Anna and the three youngest children, Marlyn, Lloyd and Phyllis soon followed on the train. The four older siblings came a little later, Olive on the train, and Wayne, Robert and Elroy drove their dads car, a 1926 "Star"
