10. John Pass was born in Feb 1781 in Caswell Co., NC. He died in Apr 1860 in Gordon Co., GA. From a page in a composition book kept by Joseph Benjamin Merritt, who was born
28 Apr 1841 and died 17 Jun 1915. Joseph was a son of Frances Ellis "Fannie"
Gann and Benjamin Tatum Merritt. Fannie was a daughter of Rebecca Pass:

"Nathaniel Pass died January 1st 1816 aged 85 years. His wife Ailsey McGinnis
Pass died Aug 1815 aged 75 years. Both were members of the Methodist Church at
Connoley's near Milton, NC. They were origionally members of the Presberterian
Church at Red House, NC.

They reared a number of children among whom were Nathaniel Jr., Holloway, John
- Thomas, Ailsey, Rebecca - Sallie & C_______ John Pass was born Feb 1781

Rebecca became the mother of Fannie Ellis, Nancy & John T. Burton. The father
Nathaniel Pass and Holloway the son were soldiers in Revolutionary war"

Note: a photocopy of this page from Joseph Benajmin Merritt's composition book
was sent to Bill Hammond by J. Diane (Spencer) Keeton, a descendant of Benajmin
Tatum Merritt and Frances Ellis Gann. The 1860 Gordon County, Georgia Mortality
census shows John Pass, age 79, born NC, died Apr 1860 of pneumonia.

1850 Gordon County, Georgia census shows John as age 65, born NC, farmer with a
real estate value of $1,000. John was also a blacksmith. 1820 census, he was
living in Caswell County, NC and in Person County, NC in 1840. He moved to
Gordon County, Georgia between 1841-1846.

Gordon County, Georgia Deed Book C, page 571 shows John Pass, Senr. and Jesse
Burch purchased Land Lot 162, 14th District, 3rd section containing 160 acres
more or less from Jesse Holland on 15 Jan 1857.

Unknown died DECEASED. John Pass and Unknown had the following children:

+45 i. Romulous Samuel Pass.
+46 ii. Eliza Pass.
+47 iii. John Jackson "Jackie" Pass.

He was married to Delany Merritt on 28 May 1820 in NC, Caswell Co.. Delany Merritt was born on 23 Sep 1789. She died before Jun 1849. John Pass and Delany Merritt had the following children:
