FIRST GENERATION

1. Christian KNIPE (1) was born in 1753 in Holland\Germany. He died in 1813 in Penn.. Christian was listed by Michael Rogers who had been doing Knipp research for Over 20 years. He found that Christian and Mary were buried in a Lutherine Cemetery in Pennslyvania. I have seen no evidence of the relationship so this is very questionable. Referring to Passenger lists of German Pioneers to Pennsylvania (including people from the Palatine) reveal that in 1731, The Ship Samuel, Hugh Percy Commander, from Rotterdam, arrived August 16th 1731. Amoung the men's names age 16 and upwards are: Henry Knop, Phillip Knop. Women's names 16 years of age and upwards: Katrena Knop, Ann Knop. Children: George Knop, Menea Knop, Peter Knop. In August 17th 1731 Present: His Honorable ye Lt. Govr. S. Hasel, Esqr, Thos. Griffits Esgr, Mayor. Oath was made to the forgoing list by Hugh Percy, Master of the Ship Samuel. Robt. Charles, Cl. Com.
"At the courthouse of Philadelphia, August 17th 1731,...A list was presented of the Names of Thirty Nine Palatines, who with their families, making in all one hundred and Seven persons, were imported here in Ship Samuel, Hugh Peircy, Master, from Rotterdam, but from las Cowes, as by Clearance from that Port." From Minutes of the Provencial Council in Colonial Records, Vol. III, p. 410.
List 14 B Included some familiar names: John(+) Fisher, Johan Henrich Knopp, Villips Knopp. It is important to note that in many Virginia records Knipp was spelled Knop with two dots over the o. Knipp was also spelled as Knipper. Passenger ship for the Allen lists 10 A from Rotterdam, James Craiges, Master arrived September 11th 1729 and a William Knipper was one passenger on the list. It is very likely that Varner may have been the second generation of Knipps in America and was born in Pennslyvania. The One of the Knops may have been the Knipp progentor.

He was married to Mary WISMER. Mary WISMER (1) was born in 1714. She died in 1804. Christian KNIPE and Mary WISMER had the following children:

child+2 i. Verner KNIPP.
child+3 ii. George KNIPP.
child+4 iii. Phillip KNIPP.
child+5 iv. Adam KNIPP.
child6 v. Joseph KNIPE(1) was born in Probably Montgom. He died in Probably Montgom.
