38. George W. KNIPP ^{(1)(53) (43)} was born in Nov 1833 in Carter Co., KY. He died on 10 Mar 1862 in Gladesville, Wise Co. Virginia. ⁽¹⁹⁾ Source Elliot Co. History article submitted by Lorine Knipp Prater. Died of exposure at Wise, Virginia during the Civil War. He was in the Kentucky Infantry as a private in Company D, 5th Mounted Infantry under the leadership of Captain Leonidas H. Elliott. He is buried near Pound Gap, VA.

He was married to Catherine "Katie" (Kathlene) BARKER (daughter of Solomon BARKER and Mary "Polly" WILSON) on 27 Aug 1855 in Carter Co. Ky.⁽¹⁹⁾ Catherine "Katie" (Kathlene) BARKER ⁽¹⁾ was born on 14 Nov 1832.⁽¹⁹⁾ She died on 2 May 1904 in Grahn Carter Co. Kentucky. ^(43)(19) Source for"Katie" and "Kathlene" was Lourene Knipp Prater from Elliot Co. History. After John Henry died in the Civil War, Katie married Jack Whitley.(according to Cora Mae Bailey research.) George W. KNIPP and Catherine "Katie" (Kathlene) BARKER had the following children:
