Michael Rogers has Christian Knipp and Mary Wismer as Varner's Parents. They are buried a Lutherine Cemetery in PA. He has Varner having a brother named Adam and another named Joseph. 5. My grandfather, George Washington Knipp was born in November, 1833 in Carter County Kentucky and died of exposure at Wise, Virginia during the Civil War. He was in the Kentucky Infantry as a private in Company D, 5th Mounted Infantry under the leadership of Captain Leonidas H. Elliot. His father was George Knipp (who was the son of Verner Knipp and Christeener Knipp) who was born about 1790 in Wythe County, Virginia and died sometime after 1855 in Lawrence County, Kentucky. His mother was Sally "Sarah" Adams (the daughter of Bill Adams and Fanny Mitchem) who was born about 1794 in North Carolina and died after 1850 in Carter County, KY. He had only one brother, William Knipp who married Elizabeth Johnson. George Washington Knipp married Oct. 3, 1862 to Kathlene "Katie" Barker (the daughter of Soloman Barker and Mary Wilson)... 54.
