Ancestors of Christian KNIPE
In the late 1700's Varner, William, and John Knipp (May possibly
be other brother by the name of George) came to U.S. from Germany through Holland.
Varner Knipp was listed in the 23 April 1796 Wythe County, Virginia, tax records
as having no slaves, three horses and two males over age 16. (Possibly his brothers)
He was listed in the 1810 Wythe County, Virginia, Census. Verner moved from
Pennslyvania to Wythe County Va. Approximately 1810 to 1813 Verner sold his land
in VA and bought 150 acres in Green County Tenn. Verner's estate was settled
May 7, 1839, Green Co. Tenn. The Lutherian Church record shows Varner buried
at Sinking Springs Cemetery, Greenville, Green County, Tenn.
