Rosa Emilee Espitallier

Rosa Emilee Espitallier (daughter of Eugene Espitallier and Felicie Pelissier) was born September 05, 1905 in Los Angeles, California, and died September 30, 1996 in Fullerton, California. She married Wilmer Verde Bronson on January 14, 1922, son of Wilmer Bronson and Martha Naomi Perkins.

Emily was born on a Monday. She was the youngest of six children. She had two sisters and three brothers.

Emily worked at the local telephone company until she met a marine by the name of Verde Bronson at Alicia Park in Los Angeles. She was there with her girlfriends when Verde and some of his marine buddies came up to them. Grandpa always said that "she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever laid eyes on". They were married when Emily was only 16 years old.

Emily was a "city girl" and she married a "real cowboy" as she often said. After they were married, they traveled to the wild indian country of Utah where she had many exciting adventures. She never really liked it there so they finally settled in Los Angeles, California. They owned two restaurants. The first restaurant they served breakfast and lunch and the second was a pizza restaurant.

Emily was a wonderful cook. Many family gatherings were held at her home. She would cook for days and the tables would be filled with everything. She insisted that stuffed dill pickles and olives were a necessity at any dinner. The desserts were always special. Tutone's were a favorite French treat. To this day, everyone still talks about the wonderful meals Emily prepared.

Emily also loved to sew. She sewed dresses for her daughters and their dolls; and mode clothing and special Halloween costumes for all of her grandchildren. In her later years, she loved to search for that special treasure, so we all visited many garage sales with her.

One of Emily's favorite sayings was, "I might not have much money, but I am truly blessed with a wonderful family".
