Possibly a Civil War vet. Isaac MESEROLE served in "A Company, 9th New Jersey Volunteers" from 18 Jan 1864 to 12 Jul 1865. Unknown if it is the same Isaac MESEROLE.
Isaac and Helen MESEROLE and family lived in the "House of Detention for Witnesses" where Isaac was the keeper (around 1859-1860). Found this in 1860 US Census and confirmed via NY Times article from 4 Oct. 1859 (see PDF of article). The Home was located at 86 and 88 White St. Newy York City.
