Gerald Jospeh MONLEY (son of Richard MONLEY and Catherine Matildia DOOHER) was born 13 May 1896 in Grand Forks, North Dakota¹⁵⁸, and died date unknown. He married (1) Clara Sirine THOMPSON, daughter of Thomas THOMPSON and Kate LARSON. He married (2) Ethel.

enlisted in Company M, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard, at Grand Forks, on April 28, 1917; called into federal service, World War, on July 15, 1917; served in Company M, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard (Company M, 164th Infantry), to discharge. Grades: Corporal, March 1, 1918; Sergeant, June 22, 1918; overseas from Dec. 15, 1917, to Feb. 26, 1919. Discharged at Camp Dodge, Iowa, on March 12, 1919, as a Sergeant.
Apparently did not return to family after service in WWI. Discharged in 1919, the 1920 Census shows him back in Grand Forks, ND living with parents and 2 brothers. Lists him as single with no mention of the family.
