Rev. Elige Roberts, age 77 of Altro, KY, passed away Monday, March 11, 2002 at his home due to a long heart ailment. Born May 24, 1924 he was the son of the late Jimmy and Lillie White Roberts. He was retired with 37 years from CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church at Sulpher Gap for many years and a member of Breathitt Lodge #649 for 49 years.
Surviviors include his wife Pearlie Watts Roberts; two daughters, Barbara Roberts of Altro, KY and Judy Eldridge and husband Don of Austin, IN; two sons, Ader Roberts and wife Gail of Whick, KY and David Roberts and wife Sheila of Altro, KY; one daughter-in-law, Judie Roberts of Altro, KY; four sisters, Sally Roberts, Mattie White, Armine Roberts, and Kitty Collins all of Indiana; two brothers, Luther Roberts and Herbert Roberts of Indiana; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He ws preceded in death by two sons, Dexter and Donald and one brother, Henry.
Funeral services were Thursday, March 14, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Bellamy and Rev. Homer Bowling. Burial followed in the Roberts Family Cemetery located at Altro, KY. Pallbearers were grandsons.
Watts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
