JOSEPH (JOSEF PLOTZKY) BLOTSKE, the son of Jakob & Johanna nee Heidrich Plotzky was born January 1, 1889 in Emmental, Bender, Bessarabia, Russia, today it's called Pervomisc, Moldavia. Jakob and Johanna Plotsky, had five sons Telesphorus, Romanus, Lukas, Josef, Thomas and a daughter Anna Maria who married Anton Harsche. Johanna died between 1889/1895 in Emmental. Later Jakob married 2nd wife Rosina Heidrich they had a daughter Emilia Blotzky born June 20, 1896.
Joseph Blotske's grandfather Jakob Plotzki Sr was born in 1802 in ORSCHOKOWIN (Warsaw), Poland. His Grandmother was Luiza Schulz Plotzki, born 24 Feb 1825 in Krasna, Akkerman, Bess, Russ. Jakob was married three times 1st-Eva Zieburt she died abt 1839, then 2nd-Luiza Schulz she died no year was posted. His 3rd wife was Anna Christina Ganski. All three wives had children with Jakob Plotzki Sr.
Joseph, Romanaus and Lukas immigrated to America at different times.
We don't know what happened to Lukas other than it shows Romanus used his name as the sponsor on the manifest information. The address for Lukas on manifest was Eureka Warfields,SD or some say it was Westfield, ND in 1903.
Romanus entered America by Ellis Island, October 21, 1903. He sailed on the Kaiser Wilheim Der Grosse. The spelling was Raman Plotzki. Romanus got his citizenship in Sept 30 1936.
Joseph was only 19 years old when he left Emmental and sailed on the SS "Main", they docked at the port of Baltimore, MD on July 29 1908. He traveled and lived with the Keller family, later helped them farm land in the Strasburg-Linton area.
Joseph became an American citizen September 17, 1940. The "Certificate of Citizenship" for both brothers can be viewd in the family photo section.
Other Plotzki Families that came to America, Katharina (Half Aunt) Plotzki and husband Joseph Nagel about 1894, they settled in Strasburg/Krassna ND. Children: Elias Nagel and Thekla Nagel Deicher made this trip sometime later.
Peter Plotzki son, Joseph and Felicia Plotsky family immigrated to America and settled in the Bismarck area.
December 9 1913 in Emmons County ND Joseph married Theresa Jochim. They lived in Strasburg area until 1922, then moved to Selfridge, ND with three small children, Pete, Frank and Rose.
It was the dead of winter when they moved to Selfridge so they could cross the Missouri River while it was frozen. (As a small child I remember my family traveling by car, crossing Missouri in the winter so we could go visit my great grandparents.) It was a short cut that was used during the winter months because it would take hours by highway.
The Blotske's had nine children, Peter, Frank, Rose (Blotske) Kraft, Ferdinand, John, Dorothy (Blotske) Vetter, Ann (Blotske) Bruner, Jack and Theresa who died shortly after birth.
Both Joseph and Theresia have passed away along with two sons Peter and Frank.
THERESIA JOCHIM BLOTSKE, born August 16, 1895 - was the oldest daughter of Peter and Stefania (Nold)Jochim, she was age 7 when they left Neu Kandel.
Peter and Margaretha Jochim, parents of Peter Jochim Jr, his brother Georg and family, and Josephina Ziegler made the trip to America. Joseph Jochim son of Peter Sr was the sponsor. They all join him in Hague, ND. He also married Josephina.
The families left Bremen, Germany on June 14 1904, sailed on the Kronprinz Wilheim, docking June 21, 1904 at Ellis Island, NY.
Other children born in the Russia were: Paulina (4), Dorathea, (3), Johann,(2), Georg, (7 months). Children born in the America were Peter, Adam, Ben, Albert, Jake, Damion, Kati and Joe.
They all settled in the Strasburg area, farmed 160 acres, which was part of the Homestead Act.
Stefania died in 1931; Peter's 2nd wife, Bendicta died in 1962; Peter died February 1969......
