Mat Phillips (b. October 18, 1867, d. August 31, 1951)

Mat Phillips (son of Elijah J Phillips and Martha Ann Neaves) was born October 18, 1867 in Lincoln County, Tennessee, and died August 31, 1951 in Athens, Limestone Co., Ala. He married Mary Rebecca Wall on December 28, 1898.

and eventually owned thousands of acres including a cotton gin, grist mill, saw mill and store.
