John Adam Shows (son of Conrad Schauss and Johanna Maria Magdalina Schwint) was born June 02, 1764 in Philadelphia, PA, and died January 19, 1842 in Ellisville, Jones Co, MS. He married Mary Nancy.

Listed as John Showes on The Detachment of Virginians organized 5-4-1778 under
the command of Lt. F. Whiting with 38 members.
Procured Bounty Grant covering 250 acres of land in Georgia during the year 1784 from serving under
the command of Col. Granberry Lee in Georgia during the Revolutionary War.
Granted 287.5 acres located in Franklin Co, GA 4-3-1785--this land was sold to Nicholas Long of NC.
Early in 1790-land grant for 200 acres of land in Columbia/Twiggs Co, GA.

John Quincy Adams, President of the United States of America, To all to whom those present come greeting.
Know ye, that John Shows of Covington County, having deposited in the General Land Office a certificate of the Register of the land office at Ft. Stephens where by it appears that full payment has been made for the West half of the South West Quarter of Section thirteen, in Township six of Range twelve, West containing seventy nine acres of the Land directed to be sold at Ft. Stephens, Alabama in pursuance of the Laws providing for the Sale of the Lands of the United States in Mississippi and Alabama, there is granted, by the United States, unto the said John Shows and to his heirs the half Quarter lot or Section of land above described to have and to hold the said half Quarter lot or section of Land with the appurtenances, unto the said John Shows, and to his and assignees forever.
In testimony where of I have caused these Letters to be made Patent and the seal of the General Land office to be here unto affixed. Given under my hand at the City of Washington, the Twenty fifth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five and of the independence of the United States of America the Forty ninth. By the President J. Q. Adams
