I am researching various family lines but I am particularly interested in obtaining more information on the Hewitt's who came from Bedfordshire to Leicestershire England. They settled in a village called Dunton Bassett in Leicestershire and almost immediately became Sheriffs of Leicestershire in the early to mid 1600's. The line from which I descend stayed in Dunton Bassett or nearby Ashby Magna before moving to Leicester in c. 1840. The ancester who moved was called John Hewitt and one of his sons (Henry Moss Hewitt, together with wife and children) moved to the States in c. 1880.
Information on the Hewitt's especially in the period 1720 - 1780 and also of the family who emigrated to the States (and part in Canada) would be helpful.
All assistance would be welcome, in return for which I am willing to share the information I have.
