This says they came in 1842, not 1832. This may be correct, according to banns published. A son was born in Uist in 1833.

According to the Beaton/Johnson/Macdonald family story, Niall came to Upper Leitches Creek in 1832 and purchased property from the Campbell family, "where the present church is ".

He petitioned in 1858, and it was granted. He had lived on the property for 16 years (points to his having arrived in 1842).

The property passed to Ronald sometime before 1881, or even before 1864, according to the Church map.
