Notes for Niclaus Hirn: It is not known for sure if Nicholas Hirn is the brother of Johann Hirn but records in the St. Mary's Lake Church books indicate that there are both a John Hirn and a Nicholas Hirn in the parish in 1855. A Nicholas Hirn was also noted in the church records as being a sponsor at a baptisim before 1855. The 1850 Federal and 1855 state census records show that there are two more males in Johann's household than there has always believed to have been at the time. It is only speculation that these extra males in the household are Nicholas Hirn and possibly Johann's father Michael.
It was decided to enter Nicholas Hirn as a brother of John Hirn Sr. following the 1855 records uncovered by the Port Washington Historical Society in June 2005.
