Lewis Hopkins was married to Ruth A. Blisset in Jeansville, PA on april 1858. He died in Annapolis, MD on October 1894. They had 11 children. Most died before Lewis. Lewis enlisted on August 27, 1861 the Army as a private of Captain Charles E. Foster's Company "k", 81st Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Colonel James Miller commanding. He participated in many engagements. He received an Honorable Discharge at Annapolis, Md, June 19, 1862, by reason of Surgeon's Certificate of Disability, and loss of right eye. He acted as recruiting officer before entering in the service, also in the same capacity after discharge. He was an Assessor for nine years in Schuykill County, PA and was one of its prominent workers of politics. He belonged to various organizations. Ruth was a member of the Women's Relief Corps, and several other organizations. This is all recorded and compiled from official and authentic sources by th U.S. Army and Navy Historical Assn. April, 1902 No. 50376 Historian H. Kellogg Washington D.C. John Robert Hopkins one of the 11 children lived in New Jersey, married Clara Emily Stopper, Died in July 1941. John and Clara had two children James H. and Emily. Emily died at a young age. James H. Hopkins my father was born in Montclair New Jersey. He married Jeannette Trippett and they had 3 boys. James H. died in Point Pleasant, New Jersey in November 1983. Jeannette is still living in New Jersey. I, Jeffrey Hopkins one of the said three children married Ana Valle Porrata. Research on the family is going very slow and is being done by my wife Ana.
