424. Colonel Andrew HAMPTON was born in 1713 in Cecil, Maryland. He was born in 1715 in Freehold, N.J.. He died on 8 Oct 1805 in Gilbert Town, Rutherford, NC. He signed a will 20July 1805 (proved). Another son, Noah, was killed 15 July 1780 by British major Dunlop on the Pacelot River.

This is Col. Andrew Hampton, Sheriff and Militia Colonel of Rutherford
County, N.C. He fought at King's Mountain 7 Oct. 1780, which broke the
back of Britain's southern invasion. (Bicentennial History Grayson
County VA 1793) p 232. Colonel Andrew Hampton served in the Revolutionary War, and was one of the heroes of the Battle of King's Mountain.
