26. Andrew Hampton MOORE was born in 1829 in , Grayson, Virginia, USA. He was buried in Feb 1863 in North of Richmond VA. He died on 13 Feb 1863 in Jerusalem Hospital, Richmond, , VA. He has Ancestral File number L5MJ-JV. Served in Co. G, 63rd VA Regiment, under Thomas B. Hampton. He died of
typhoid fever during the war, and was buried north of Richmond. Private in Capt. Thos. B. Hampton's Co. G, 63rd VA Reglrs.
Age 34 years. Height 5'10", weight 150 lbs., complexion sallow, sandy
hair, blue eyes, profession farmer. Enlisted at Moccasin Gap VA 6
April 1862 for three years or during the war; died of typhoid
pneumonia. He was married to Zilpha Anne SIMCOX on 15 Dec 1850 in , Ashe, NC.

27. Zilpha Anne SIMCOX was born on 28 Oct 1828 in Meadow Creek, Grayson, VA. She died on 17 Dec 1917. She has Ancestral File number L5MJ-K2. Andrew Hampton Moore He was a private in Thomas B. Hampton's Co. G.,
63rd VA Regiment, CSA. While serving in this capacity, he contracted
Typhoid and died in a Richmond, VA, hospital. He was buried near
Richmond.

He married Zilpha Simcox (10/28/1828-12/17/1917).

There are conflicting stories that she was either a sister or a cousin
of Nancy Hanks, mother of Abraham Lincoln. Zilpha's mother was Zilpha
Hanks.

(General note on the Moore Family: Some of the Moores were not listed in the 1870 Census. ...Most of the Moore family were not in sympathy with the Confederate cause. Amos Moore befirended two abolitionists, Cook and Bacon, who came to Grayson Co. in the early 1850s to encourage slaves to desert their homes and follow the New River to northern states. With the approach of the Civil War, Many of the Moore family moved to Ohio."

v. (Son) MOORE was born on 10 Nov 1857 in , Grayson, VA. He died on 11 Nov 1857 in , Grayson, VA.
vi. Ezekiel MOORE was born on 4 Nov 1858 in , Grayson Co., VA. Entered in Grayson Co. Register of Births
vii. Margaret MOORE was born on 9 Feb 1861 in , Grayson, VA. She was buried in Sep 1897 in POOL Cemetery, Meadow Creek, Grayson, VA. She died on 29 Sep 1897 in Meadow Creek, Grayson, VA.
viii. William F. MOORE was born in Mar 1870 in , Grayson, VA. Listed in 1880 Census, but born several years after Andrew's death --
possibly adopted or a grandson.
