UPDATED: May 3, 2003 THIS site is ALWAYS in the process of being updated! Welcome to the Huisenga/Huisinga (maybe even Huizinga and Huizenga!!) Family Home Page! Our Family emigrated in October of 1865 from Veenhuisen Province, Germany. Dirk & Gertje Huisenga were married in May of 1857 and took four of their children to settle in America. Dirk, their second oldest child, was only five years old and died during the trip. He was buried at sea as was the tradition in that period. A note to anyone that has obituaries or birth/death/marriage certificates: I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE COPIES OF THEM TO SCAN INTO THE FAMILY TREE MAKER SOFTWARE IN PREPARATION FOR PUBLICATION! I would love to have more stories to add to the list that is growing everyday. The only way to truly enjoy a family tree is to have the family "brought to life" through stories and biographies and family Bible information. This is the way I want to record our family history for our children and their children and their children and...... Our families and our heritage are the best gift we have been given that no one can be denied! |
