Notes for MICHAEL "XAVIER" HILLENBRAND:
Father Hillenbrand started his missionary work with the Indians at St. Ann's Indian Missionary in Belcourt, ND in 1962. He remained at the missionary until 1964 when he transferred to Guatemala.

He was the superior of the Resurection Priory community of Coban, Guatemala. He was alos the director of the Centro San Benito Education Center for the Development of Indian Learning in Coban.

He began his education at St. Benedict Catholic School and from there he attended St. Meinrad Seminary and completed his studies at Blue Cloud Abbey in Marvin, SD.

John Sr. worked on the L & N Railroad as a brakeman and engineer, he retired in February 1973 after 29 years. He often worked late and when he would get home he liked to make a big breakfast of eggs, fried potatoes and sausage.

Often when his grandchildren were there they would make so much noise that he would wake up and tell them that if they didn't quite down he was "going to send them to the Moon".

Some of his close friends called him "Pinky".
