Football All-Star in High School, All State & All City, went on to play at Indiana University. He graduated from IU in 1946, he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta. He played three years of professional football in the up-start All American Football Confernence.

Went in the service during WW II and was stationed at Ft. Benning, GA when his older brother, Joe was killed at Normandy.

Moved to Indianapolis and was a $5 million per year salesman for McCormick Co, before owning his own food brokerage - Waiters & Co. He owned this business for 21 years until he retired.

He also worked for Sports Services, a Sports Publication Co. The time frame is unclear.
