Cornelius Dunn, 86, Relieved of Long Suffering Early Thursday Morning-Funeral Saturday.

Con Dunn, one of Bellevue's oldest and highly respected citizens, passed away early this morning at the Bellevue Memorial hospital where he was taken ten days ago suffering with a heart ailment.

Cornelius Dunn was born Sept. 30, 1862, on a farm near Bellevue, the son of James and Mary Burke Dunn. He grew to young manhood in this vicinity and on January 26, 1868 was married to Grace Shay in Dubuque.

Mr. Dunn was section foreman for the Milwaukee railroad for 52 years and retired in 1934 at the age of 72 years.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and the Modern Wodmen.

He was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away on April 9, 1934, a daughter Gladys Schwartz in 1919, two sons, J. C. and Norman Dunn. Left to mourn a kind and loving father are three daughters, Miss Irene at home, Mrs. A. F. (Belle) Abing of Dubuque and Mrs. William (Alice) Matthews of Spencer, S. D. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

"Con" as he was familiarly known by a host of friends, was a quiet, kindly man whose home and family came first. He was a thoughtful neighbor and faithful friend. He has been in failing health for several years, but never complained, and bore his affliction with great fortitude.

The body reposes at the Dye Funeral home where services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Laurence Nelson officiating. Burial will be made in the Presbyterian cemetery.


LAID TO REST

The mortal remains of the late Con Dunn, whose death was recorded in our last issue, were laid to rest last Saturday beside his wife in the Presbyterian cemetery. The Rev. Laurence Nelson conducted the services at the Dye Funeral home and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Jansen sang several hymns.

Ellis, Miss Loretta King, Miss Virgnina Fine, Dubuque; Harry Adickes, Oelwein. He was buried after 28 Oct 1948 in Presbyterian Cemetery, Bellevue, Jackson Co., Iowa. He was Catholic.
