Issue of: Thursday 7 February 1901:
William T. King died at the home of his son-in-law, W. R. Davis near Welcome Church on Friday. He was in his 87th year. Mr. King was a native of Anderson Co., S. C. but lived most of his life in Pickens County. Burial was at George's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. His children are: John T. King of Oconee Co., S. C., Mrs. E. E. Davis of Pickens, Mrs. Mary Ellis of Atlanta, Georgia and Mrs. Verrell of Alabama.

Issue of: Thursday 13 June 1901:
Tribute to William T. King, born near Belton, Anderson Co., S. C. the 15 Jan. 1815, moved to Pickens Co. in 1851. At the organization of George's Creek Baptist Church, he was a charter member. Mr. King died the 8 Feb. 1901 and the funeral service was conducted by Brother D. W. Hiott. Burial was at George's Creek with Masonic Honors. He was buried beside his wife who died a few years ago. There were 2 sons and 3 daughters in the family.

Wm. T. King was born January 15, 1815 and died February 8, 1901. Bro. King was the second son of Rev. Robert King of blessed memory. More than fifty years ago Wm. T. was baptized into the fellowship of the church at Big Creek, in Anderson county. Soon afterward he moved to Pickens county, and became one of the charter members of George's Creek church, where he remained an honored, upright communicant till his death. Bro. King was a brother of Col. John D. and Revs. Woody H. and R. Mercer King, all of whom were well and favorably known to the Saluda Association. The other brothers preceded him by several years to the better world. His wife and several children have gone before, but there are still several children and sisters who will miss his loving counsel and words of cheer. Bro. King's funeral was held at George's Creek church by the writer in the presence of an immense congregation. After the sermon, ______________ Masonic fraternity laid the body to rest.

Headstone: "Our Grandfather: WA & A.El King His soundex code is K520. According to "The Confederacy is On Her Way Up the Spout", page 135, "William F. King, a neighbor of the Barretts, had three sons of military age in 1860: Robert F. (twenty-three), William (twenty-one), and John (sixteen). At least two appear to have enlisted in Company E on October 24, 1861. Robert F., a sergeant in 1861, was killed at Petersburg, Virginia, on June 20, 1864. John was wounded at Spotsylvania Court House on may 10, 1864, and was paroled at Appomattox." Parents: Rev. Robert KING III and Frances (Fannie) E. HOLLAND.
