Old Settler Passed Away
Former Citizen of Idabel in Early Days Died Monday

M. D. Waddle, of this city, died Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, mrs. S. McConathy, in Dallas, Texas, where he had been since May. Mr. Waddle became ill at Dallas while attending the Old Soldiers' Reunion in May, and gradually grew worse until his death. He had lived in Broken Bow and Idabel for a number of years, where he had numerous friends.

The deceased is survived by three sons and three daughters as follows: Mrs. S. mcConathy, Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Della Washburn, Beamont, Texas; Mrs. W. T. Hamilton, Luddington, Louisiana; O. N. Waddle, Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Colonel Waddle, Sapulpa, and Chas. Waddle, Albuquerque, N. M.; Bryan Hagans, of Verven, Oklahoma, and Chester Hagans, of Los Angeles, California, are grandsons of Mr. Waddle.

The remains were brought to this city Wednesday afternoon for buiral, being accompanied by Mrs. McConathy and Mrs. Hamilton. The funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist church this afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. M. L. Sims, pastor of the Methodist church here. Interment was made in the Crown Hill cemetery near town.

The many friends of the family in this city deeply sympathize with them in their bereavement.--Borken Bow News.

M. D. Waddle: M. D. Waddle, born in Cobb County, Georgia, in October, 1840, raised on a farm, and at the age of 21 volunteered for service in the Confederate army in Calhoun County, Alabama, in 1861, by enlisting in Company I, 25th Alabama Infantry, Withers Division. He was in the Army of Tennessee under Hood, and was in the battle of Shiloh. Mr. Waddle is in his 83rd year, and having had a leg broken when a boy, he limps a little and carries a cane, but he is still active and alert. Like many others of his old comrades, he lives with his children, some of whom are in Texas, but he claims Oklahoma as his home. Parents: Amaziah WADDLE and Roxanna (Amaziah Waddle) UNKNOWN .
