Death of Mrs. Mary Shay.
Mrs. Mary Shay died at the home of her son-in-law, Con Dunne, last night, of chronic jaundice after a prolonged illness, aged 55 years. Deceased was born in Louisville, Ky., and came to Bellevue in childhood. Her maidan name was Mary Anderson and she was married in November, 1858, to C. K. Shay. Five children were the furits of this union, four of whom are living: Mrs. Frank Halley of March, S. D.; Mrs. Nick Offerman, Dubuque; Mrs. Con Dunne of this city, and Charles Shay of Bayard, Iowa. Her husband passed to the great beyond eighteen years ago. Mrs. Shay was an affectionate and loving mother, a good and kind neighbor. She was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. The funeral services will be conducted at the house, tomorrow afternoon, at 2:00 o'clock. To the bereaved ones the LEADER extends its deepest sympathy in this their sad hour. She was buried on 2 Apr 1897 in Bellevue City Cemetery. No Marker. Parents: Michael BURK and SARAH (Sally) A. JUKES.
