7. Thena Moore HARRIS was born on 16
Apr 1879 in Red Oak, Fulton Co. GA. She died on 4 Mar 1942 in Atlanta, Georgia.

SOUTH was born on 12 Aug 1904 in Henry County, Georgia. He died on 14 Aug
1904 in Henry County, Georgia.

Callaway_Wrenly (Wren), Jr. SOUTH was born on 9 Nov 1905 in Henry County,
Georgia. He died on 30 Oct 1965 in Houston, Texas.

Irene SOUTH was born on 18 Dec 1908 in Henry County, Georgia. She died on
1 Nov 1988 in Nashville, Tennessee. She was buried on 19 Aug 1989 in Bethel
Cemetary, Henry County, GA. Irene donated her body to Vanderbilt University
School of Medicine in Nashville, TN. On June 7, 1989, Vanderbilt mailed her
cremated remains to Larry Juhlin who kept them safe until her memorial service
at Bethel. She had Social Security Number 253-05-2479.
(8) Irene died in a nursing home affiliated with Trevecca Towers and
the Nazarene Church. She donated her body to Vanderbilt University Medical School,
which later returned her cremated remains to the family. A brief funeral was
held at the time of her death. After the return of her ashes, a memorial service
was held at Bethel United Methodist Church, Henry County, GA, attended by many
of her extended family. Tributes were given by Mrs. Louise McKee Clark, a former
Sunday School pupil of Irene's; Mrs. Pearl South, a cousin; and Larry Juhlin,
her nephew. Her ashes were interred in the South family plot at Bethel cemetary,
next to her son, by Horace Ward, mortician and long-time family friend.
Cause of death and significant conditions listed on the death certificate are:
Chronic Urinary Tract Infection; Organic Brain Syndrome; Sacral decubitus; Fracture
of left tibia & fibula. Signed by: Y. Charles Joe, M.D. of Joelton, TN on
11/30/88.
Death certificate incorrectly lists Irene as "never married." (Her
sisters Helen and Doris are trying to correct this.) She had worked as a Bookkeeper/Accountant
for Dunn & Bradstreet in Atlanta, GA.

Lena Helen SOUTH was born on 17 Mar 1911 in Henry County, Georgia. She died
on 18 Dec 2000 in Johnson, Kansas. Helen had excellent health until she contracted
intestinal cancer the last few months before her death. She had had surgery
only once in her life, for a tonsillectomy, and refused surgery for her cancer.
She was hospitalized once at age 75 for clinical depression, when she retired
after having worked for 60 years. A few years before her death she fell down
some steps and was taken to the hospital against her wishes and stayed just a
short time. When the cancer developed, she moved into the Stanton County Long
Term Care Unit, where she received excellent personal care. She was buried
on 21 Dec 2000 in Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson, Kansas.
(9) Larry Juhlin, nephew, gave the eulogy and Steven Juhlin, great-nephew,
sang "It Is Well With My Soul" at the funeral at Bethel Church of the
Nazarene, Big Bow, Kansas, Rev. Tom Boese, pastor, and IrmaLee Herrick, organist.
Pallbearers were Ron Snowbarger, Gerald Schmidt, Bill Leonard, LaVere Pepper,
Harold Shore, and Eugene Shore.
