Lived next door to Cornelius G. Martin family. Vacant property on the other side. He died on 8 Feb 1902 in Henry County, Georgia.

He was married to Nancy Jane WHITE (daughter of William Coleman (Billy) WHITE and Ann MORRIS) on 28 Dec 1858. Nancy Jane WHITE ⁽¹⁴⁾ was born on 11 Apr 1845. She died on 13 Mar 1907 in Henry County, Georgia. Newton Monroe SOUTH and Nancy Jane WHITE had the following children:
