 Includes NotesNotes for Margaret Mauritzen:
Their sister Carrie died very young, while feeding her boys, Kenny & Arthur who were 4 & 7. The boys came to live at the family home with Aunt Margaret and Aunt Mayme who then raised them. Aunt Margaret tutored the boys who seemed to have difficulties reading. Apparently their father couldn't handle them on his own, or, as Carrie's brother Harry James Mauritzen (my grandfather) said, "He was just stupid."

Letter in my possession written by Margaret to her nephew Glen Mauritzen.
"Dear Glen: I cannot qualify as a good family historian because I only have a small book containing names, births and deaths. Mamie corresponded with relatives in Copenhagen (1930-1945). Finally the letters were fewer and farther apart becuse the older ones were no longer able to write and the younger ones evidently found it difficult to write in English. One of the boys ( a cousin) told us that he hoped that some day he could 'take a little step over to America.'" So far as I know, he did not come unless the man who wrote to you could be the cousin. My uncle had a large book-binding factory in Copenhagen."
Letter continues with dates & names that I have entered. [dianekoehlerkastelloapril2001.FTW]
