Notes for Elizabeth S. Burkart:

Source primarily Edna Koehler Helm, Elizabeth's granddaughter.
Immigrated 1851. Elizabeth was known as "Mudder" and she came from a farming family, but we don' know where. Sounds like it was Germany. Aunt Edna says her father Leopold always thought his parents were rather "snobbish" and didn't really care for all the little children around them. She says for this reason her mom and dad and all of the children were closer to the other grandparents, the Noel/Neu group.
Of course, we have to bear in mind that Leopold & his wife lived in one side of the 2-family home and proceeded to have 11 children. This could account for "Mudder" feeling she had had enough family closeness!
Elizabeth was raised in a Catholic family but must have converted when she married Albreight. She is buried in City Cemetary, Peru.
